Adding a weight to an item

Introduction

To be Natasha's Law compliant, your label needs to list the ingredients in descending weight order.

For the system to be able to do this on your behalf, we need to know the weight of all items in your dish. This means that if you have an item in your dish that has the unit or measurement as a non calculable unit, eg Each, Loaf etc you will need to specify the weight. This is the same requirement as if you are using IndiCater to provide nutrition data.

Where to find this

In Recipe Manager, click on a dish and scroll to the Nutrition box.

Any items that need a weight to be entered are show like this:

Without this weight, you cannot add ingredients to your label as we are unable to calculate the weight to work out the correct order of the items in your ingredients list. See the yellow warning below.

Step-by-Step guide

  1. On your recipe, click on the Weight button in the Nutrition section of the dish
  2. Enter the approximate weight of the item in your dish in grams. If you have 10 eggs in your dish, the weight required is the total for 10 eggs.
  3. Click Amend to save.
  4. As the weight is the weight for the dish this does need to be done in each dish.
