How to capture drained weight of an item

Introduction

This guide explain how you can convert the weight of an item provided by the supplier to be the drained or true weight.

This is useful if using the nutrition data which is calculated using the weight of an item and also if converting a menu for an event into a requisition.

Where to find this

This is handled in the Recipe Manager module

Step-by-Step guide

You will need to amend the weight of your item each time you add it to a dish.

1.Add your ingredient such as a tin of kidney beans to a recipe, in this example a tin of kidney beans weighs 2.5kg according to the supplier

2. When you come to the section to add in your recipe quantity, click the Alternative Packsize button (when editing a dish, the button is called AP)

3. This opens up a new box which enables you to select an alternative quantity/weight and/or unit of measurement. In this example I am changing the pack size from 1 x 2.5kg to 1 x 1800g

4. Click Update and then Continue

5. The cost of the item is now for 1800g instead of 2.5kg.
